**Deputy Sheriff I- Corrections**
This position is a hands-on entry-level law enforcement role focused on maintaining a safe and secure environment. You will supervise inmates, ensuring their physical and medical needs are met. This includes the full intake process, from creating arrest records and reports to fingerprinting and taking mug shots.
Additionally, you'll be responsible for supervising inmates on work details, performing general facility maintenance and repairs, and keeping the jail and recreation areas clean. You will also participate in interstate extradition transports to states like Nevada, Colorado, and Wyoming.
You must be a high school graduate or have a GED. Additionally, you need to have successfully completed the Police Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Academy for Correctional Officer Certification. No prior experience is required. We may offer to provide your P.O.S.T. training, which would include a two-year commitment to work for the county after completion.
Special Qualifications
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Must possess a valid Utah State Driver's License.
Must work rotating shift work.
Must work on-call 24 hours.
Must complete 40 hours of training per year to maintain certification.
This full-time position offers $25.50 an hour, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package.
