Custodian / Classified Information Security Custodian

(RDTE)

Bowhead seeks a dedicated Custodian/ Classified Information Security Custodian to safeguard classified information and ensure compliance with all applicable DoD and NSWCDD security procedures. This role is critical to maintaining the integrity, accountability, and protection of classified holdings within approved containers, vaults, and secure rooms.

Essential functions for the job include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain possession and accountability of security containers and their classified contents.
• Confrim clearance and need‑to‑know before granting access to classified material.
• Report situations requiring police response to NDW Regional Dispatch and NSWCDD Security Director.
• Ensure personnel listed on SF‑700 are trained for recall and alarm response.
• Maintain SF‑702 check sheets for all openings/closings of security containers.
• Ensure SF‑701 forms are completed, destroyed after 90 days, or retained if under investigation.
• Request and enforce combination changes per NSWCDD 5510.4 series.
• Prevent tampering or modification of alarm systems; report incidents immediately.
• Ensure decals remain legible; request replacements when necessary.
• Report moves and update SF‑700 continuation sheets for new personnel access.
• Maintain inventories of classified holdings, conduct semi‑annual cleanouts, and ensure proper markings.
• Ensure all documents/media are properly marked before storage.
• Remove personnel who no longer require access.
• Contact SC or Command Duty Officer when locks fail.
• Turn over safe materials (e.g., change keys) to SC upon receipt.
• Keep tops of containers clear and ensure physical integrity.
• Five (5 ) or more years of relevant cybersecurity, systems engineering, or classified material handling experience
• High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree highly desired
• Knowledge of DoD security and IA requirements (DoDI 8500.2, DISA STIGs)
• Familiarity with UNIX and Windows system administration
• Knowledge of Ports, Protocols, and Services (PPS), PKI, and IAVM policies
• DoD 8570 IAM Level II certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Experience with security assessment tools (e.g., Nessus)
• Experience implementing and testing security controls
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience as a Custodian or Alternate Custodian in a DoD or Navy environment
• Familiarity with SF‑700, SF‑701, SF‑702 forms and classified container management
• Demonstrated ability to conduct alarm response coordination and incident reporting
• Experience with classified inventory management and semi‑annual cleanout procedures
  
  
  

Targeted salary range is $80,000 to $1115,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift up to 15-20 pounds or more
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
  
  
  

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Top Secret/SCI level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Top Secret/SCI clearance at this location.
