Position Summary
The IT Manager (Healthcare Applications Manager) will manage an Information Systems applications team that develops, maintains, implements and provides on-going support to clinical applications, medical record applications and/or patient billing. Oversee project planning and implementation of new functions, major applications, and software upgrades throughout the UI Health Enterprise. Manage day to day operations and long term planning and development of healthcare applications.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee project management, client management, solution design and implementation and generation of IT projects affecting clinical applications in the health system. Assign work to team of direct reports, follow-up and ensure completion of user requests. Oversee resources-allocation, develop, and evaluate need for resources, short and long range planning. Create policy and procedures for the team and the IS department. Maintain relationships with customers and vendors of the IS department.
- Develop business benchmarks to measure operating processes and workflow. Work with clinical staff to improve health care system strategies through developing and maintaining access to and support of electronic medical information in the clinical database
- Manage multiple project implementations involving medical center system software: assess, plan, implement and direct the transformation of key business processes. Manage work efforts, determine project costs, identify required resources, and develop risk mitigation strategies for software implementation
- Identify and develop functionality to support new regulatory, workflow process and documentation improvement and patient safety. Assign staff to clinical project teams to review business issues and objectives, and translate into application solutions
- Develop and provide reporting; communicate project status on a regular basis to management Participate with senior IS management in strategic and tactical plan development including resource planning, and project requirements
- Support clinical staff in the hospital and outreach areas; resolve end user issues with healthcare applications. Ensure clinical staff/residents are trained on using clinical application system, enhancements or changes to processes; guide medical staff through transformation efforts. Ensure issues logged about the Clinical IT system are resolved to client satisfaction
- Contact software vendors on IT service delivery and implementation.
- Successfully complete manager identified, required system training and certifications needed to support assigned applications within communicated timeframes.
- Staff Management
- Plan, assign and review work of staff to ensure that group objectives are met. Hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure that qualified staff exists to meet group objectives.
