What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing Associate & Student Affairs Associate position at UIC Office of the Student Trustee?
Company Description
The Office of the Student Trustee represents UIC students within the University of Illinois System’s governance structure, advocating for student interests at the executive leadership level. As a liaison between campus life and university policy-making, the office ensures that UIC remains a student-focused institution. It provides regular updates on Board of Trustees meetings, leads advocacy efforts, and fosters opportunities for student engagement and input.
Role Description
These are paid on-site roles at UIC for (1) Marketing Associate and (1) Student Affairs Associate at the Office of the Student Trustee (2026-2027).
The Marketing Associate will be responsible for:
- Establishing a consistent visual identity and "voice" for the Student Trustee office across all digital and physical platforms
- Managing platforms (primarily Instagram and LinkedIn) to highlight board decisions, upcoming deadlines, and office initiatives
- Designing and distributing a monthly email newsletter to the student body summarizing what the Board of Trustees and our office are currently working on
- Creating promotional materials for special initiatives to maximize student participation and awareness
The Student Affairs Associate will be responsible for:
- Serve as the secondary point of contact for the Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and Graduate Student Council to communicate with the Office of the Student Trustee
- Organize regular feedback sessions or "Office Hours" across our office and/or at different campus locations (East, West, and South) to gather student concerns
- Identify and partner with cultural centers and student organizations to ensure marginalized voices are included in the Trustee's advocacy
- Maintain a system to log and categorize recurring student issues to identify broader trends to investigate
Qualifications
- Be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student for the 2026-2027 school year at UIC
- Have a minimum GPA of 2.50 (Be in good academic standing)
- Passionate about helping to ensure student concerns are heard!
- Strong Communication and Teamwork skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment
