The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria seeks a child and adolescent psychiatrist with strong interest in graduate medical education to develop and lead a new child and adolescent psychiatry (CAP) Fellowship. Providing leadership for the CAP fellowship program is a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.
Our department has worked closely with community partners to prepare for the development of a new CAP training program. The broad array of resources, exceptional facilities, and collaborative commitment from the community provide an ideal opportunity for a motivated psychiatrist to lead and grow the program. The success of our other educational programs and the experience of the current faculty offer ample support to the incoming CAP Fellowship faculty member. Candidates should share our values for high-quality patient care, the education of fellows, residents, and medical students, and the promotion of scholarly activity. The responsibilities of the position include development of the fellowship, oversight of the program curriculum and operations, promoting a culture of excellence, recruitment, evaluation, teaching, and scholarly support. Other duties will be tailored to the interest of the applicant and include opportunities in adult and child inpatient and outpatient clinical care, community outreach, college student mental health, scholarship, and classroom teaching. Minimum requirements include graduation from an ACGME-approved child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship, licensed or license-eligible in the state of Illinois, and ABPN board-certification in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry.

- Administration of the program and accountable for operations, teaching, scholarly activity, recruitment and selection, faculty development, orientation, evaluation, and promotion
- Direct patient care
- Supervision and teaching of general psychiatry residents and medical students
- Function as a University faculty member, performing such duties as are appropriate to academic rank and position
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
- MD or DO graduate of an LCME/AACOM-accredited medical school
- Graduate of an ACGME-approved child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship
- Licensed or license-eligible in the state of Illinois
- ABPN board-certified in adult and child and adolescent psychiatry
- Experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry
