VP of Finance

A great UHY client is seeking a VP of Finance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on Controller experience in a mid-sized company, strong QuickBooks and multi-entity accounting expertise, and a stable, consistent work history with a high degree of personal integrity.

The VP of Finance role is a hybrid position. This is a direct hire position.

VP of Finance Responsibilities

• Maintain executive responsibility for financial operations, including working capital, capital expenditures, debt, taxes, budgeting, and general accounting.
• Lead all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Manage accounting and financial reporting across four separate entities, maintaining distinct books and records.
• Record and reconcile intercompany transactions and prepare accurate combined financial statements.
• Lead the annual budgeting process, financial planning, forecasting, and ongoing financial analysis.
• Manage cash flow, investments, treasury activities, and banking relationships to optimize liquidity and financial stability.
• Prepare bank reporting, financial packages, and other information required by banking partners.
• Oversee biweekly payroll processing through ADP, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable requirements.
• Manage employee benefit plans and oversee the company’s 401(k) plan, including compliance, contributions, and plan administration.
• Provide benefits and HR administration support, including new-hire onboarding, employee terminations, required documentation, and employment-related compliance.
• Serve as the primary contact for external audit and tax preparation and scheduling, including workers’ compensation rate audits/calculations.
• Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, systems, and controls to increase efficiency, accuracy, and cost savings.
• Provide direct leadership and oversight to the Office Manager, including setting priorities, providing guidance, and monitoring performance.
• Partner with ownership and leadership on financial matters, special projects, and evolving business needs.
• Execute ad hoc financial and operational projects for the owner with flexibility and sound judgment.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive financial, employee, and company information.

VP of Finance Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Proven leadership experience across Accounting and Finance, ideally in a mid-sized company environment.
• Hands-on Controller experience encompassing month-end close, AP/AR, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, treasury/banking, and general accounting.
• Strong experience with QuickBooks Enterprise required.
• Multi-entity accounting experience, including intercompany transactions and combined financial reporting.
• Experience administering employee benefits and supporting HR-related administrative and compliance activities.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance.
• Experience with payroll administration, preferably ADP.
• Experience managing banking relationships, cash flow, liquidity, and bank reporting.
• Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to improve accounting processes, systems, controls, and operational efficiency.
• Stable work history with a demonstrated pattern of commitment and longevity in prior positions.
• Exceptional personal integrity and discretion, with the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive company and personal information.
• Self-directed and comfortable working independently in a flexible environment.
• Versatile, adaptable, highly organized, and dedicated to efficient personal productivity.
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with ownership, employees, external advisors, and banking partners.
