What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at UHY-US?
A great UHY client is seeking a Staff Accountant. This role reports to the Assistant Controller and plays a key part in general ledger management, balance sheet reconciliations, system validation, and internal control compliance.
The Staff Accountant role is an onsite position in Holly, MI. This is a client direct hire position.
Staff Accountant Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries in SAP, including accruals, reclasses, inventory-related entries, and standard adjustments
- Support month-end and quarter-end close processes
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
- Validate SAP actuals flowing into OneStream and resolve mapping or data discrepancies
- Maintain account mappings between SAP and OneStream and support chart-of-accounts governance
- Execute journal entry controls, reconciliation approvals, and financial data validations in compliance with SOX/internal controls
- Assist with audit support schedules and respond to internal and external audit inquiries
- Prepare month-end reporting schedules and provide variance explanations for P&L and balance sheet accounts
- Partner with Cost Accounting, AP/AR, Operations, and Supply Chain to resolve inventory, GR/IR, freight accrual, and transactional discrepancies
- Support ad hoc analysis and reporting requests from leadership
Staff Accountant Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of accounting experience (manufacturing experience strongly preferred)
- Hands-on SAP experience required
- Familiarity with OneStream for financial reporting and data validation
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- High attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and ability to meet tight reporting deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
