What are the responsibilities and job description for the Property Accountant position at UHY-US?
A great UHY client is seeking a Property Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of mid to large firm public accounting experience, a strong and proactive work ethic/mentality and a Bachelors degree in accounting.
The Property Accountant role is a hybrid position, with 3 days being onsite. This is a client direct hire position.
Property Accountant Key Responsibilities
- Produce complete and timely monthly and quarterly financial statements, including all related account reconciliations for several entities.
- Prepare and record recurring and non-recurring journal entries with appropriate documentation.
- Process monthly cash distributions.
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts promptly, ensuring all reconciling items are addressed in the subsequent accounting period.
- Review, classify, and approve invoices for payment.
- Assist with compiling documentation and supporting materials for regulatory filings and transaction-related requests (e.g., quarterly/annual reports and asset acquisitions or dispositions).
- Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
- Build productive working relationships with stakeholders across the organization, including operations teams, accounts payable, asset management, investor relations, and leadership.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Complete special projects and ad-hoc analyses as assigned by management.
Property Accountant Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 1–3 years of accounting or equivalent experience.
- Strong work ethic and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with Yardi or similar accounting software is a plus.
