Plant Controller

A great UHY client is seeking a Plant Controller. The ideal candidate will have 5–10 years of progressive manufacturing accounting experience, strong product costing and financial analysis expertise, and at least 3 years of accounting or finance leadership experience.

The Plant Controller role is a fully on-site position, 5 days a week. This is a direct hire position.

Plant Controller Responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial leadership and serve as a trusted business partner to commercial and operations leadership.
• Lead and oversee accounting and finance activities, including financial reporting, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and analysis.
• Manage and develop the accounting and finance team, providing direction, coaching, and accountability.
• Prepare and present financial results, analysis, and recommendations to executive leadership.
• Oversee GAAP financial reporting and ensure accurate and timely financial information.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, KPI development, and ongoing financial performance reporting.
• Evaluate financial and operational performance, analyze variances, identify trends, and recommend actions to improve profitability.
• Develop financial analyses for business opportunities, including cash flow, ROI, pricing, capital requirements, and financial risk.
• Partner with commercial and operations teams on product costing, pricing, product margins, profitability, and business strategies.
• Evaluate new products, facilities, investments, capital expenditures, and other strategic initiatives.
• Monitor manufacturing performance, asset utilization, and operating results and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Drive improvements in financial systems, forecasting, costing methodologies, reporting processes, and operational controls.
• Strengthen internal controls and support SOX compliance and other financial governance requirements.
• Provide financial guidance and analysis to support purchasing and new and existing business opportunities.
• Utilize manufacturing and operations controlling systems and cost estimating tools to support decision-making.
• Partner cross-functionally to identify opportunities for cost reduction, process improvement, and improved financial performance.
• Support organizational safety, compliance, and other business initiatives as needed.

Plant Controller Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Manufacturing experience required.
• 5–10 years of progressive manufacturing accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
• Proven supervisory and accounting/finance department management experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Demonstrated experience with product costing, cost estimating, product pricing, and product margin analysis.
• Experience with manufacturing operations controlling systems and financial processes.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and the ability to connect financial results with operational performance.
• Advanced Excel skills required.
• Strong systems knowledge with demonstrated experience improving financial systems, processes, and controls.
• Experience developing and analyzing complex budgets and forecasts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate financial risks, opportunities, and returns.
• Experience supporting strategic business decisions involving pricing, capital investments, facilities, products, and profitability.
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively partner with executive, commercial, and operations leadership.
• CPA or advanced degree preferred but not required.
• Ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and operate effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
