A great UHY client is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Purchasing to lead and elevate our procurement function. In this high-impact leadership role, you will drive category purchasing strategies, inventory management, supplier partnerships, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize costs and fuel business growth.

You will lead a talented team, implement innovative procurement solutions, and foster strategic vendor relationships to drive long-term success.

The Director of Purchasing role is hybrid position, with Tuesday-Thursday being onsite. This is a client direct hire position.

Director of Purchasing Key Responsibilities

Lead & Inspire : Manage and mentor a high-performing team of category leaders, buyers, and specialists to achieve measurable results.
Strategic Sourcing & Negotiation : Drive supplier negotiations, enhance margins, and implement purchasing strategies that support revenue growth.
Process Optimization : Develop and execute efficient business processes and industry best practices to align with company goals.
Vendor & Stakeholder Relations : Build and maintain strong, value-driven relationships with key suppliers and industry partners.
Data-Driven Decision Making : Establish KPIs, monitor market trends, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Sales & Product Development Support : Identify sourcing opportunities and contribute to innovative product solutions.

Director of Purchasing Experience & Expertise

10 years of progressive purchasing experience, including 5 years in a leadership role within a high-performance environment.

Proven success in the food industry with strong vendor relationships and market influence.

Deep expertise in inventory management, supplier negotiations, and cost-saving strategies.

Director of Purchasing Education

A bachelor’s degree in supply chain or supply chain management is required.

Director of Purchasing Skills & Leadership Qualities

Inspirational leader with a sales-minded approach to purchasing and a focus on shared business objectives.

Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills to engage effectively with vendors, stakeholders, and executives.

A collaborative problem-solver who can balance priorities and drive alignment across teams.

Exceptional project management skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to execute strategic initiatives.

Director of Purchasing Additional Requirements

Ability to travel up to 25% for vendor meetings and trade shows.
