Business Controller

A great UHY client is seeking a Business Controller to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounting and finance, strong verbal and written communication skills and strong systems experience.

The Business Controller role is an onsite position. This is a client direct hire position.

Business Controller Position Qualifications

• Partner with functional leaders to prepare accurate and timely financial reporting, budgets, and forecasts
• Provide financial oversight and analytical support for strategic initiatives, including marketing investments, product cost and margin analysis, and operational planning efforts
• Perform detailed financial analyses to identify trends, key performance drivers, and variances; recommend actions to improve performance
• Evaluate, challenge, and enhance existing processes and recurring analyses to strengthen performance management and continuous improvement
• Identify risks and opportunities within budgets, forecasts, and performance tracking tools
• Monitor departmental adherence to approved budgets and coordinate updates as needed with financial planning leadership
• Collaborate with internal control partners to implement and maintain compliance with finance and accounting policies; proactively identify and address potential control risks
• Support the development of initiatives focused on cost optimization, margin improvement, and operational efficiency across the organization
• Respond to ad hoc analytical requests and contribute to special projects as needed
• Perform additional responsibilities as assigned

Business Controller General Responsibilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification preferred but not required
• Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, or financial analysis
• Industry experience in a consumer-focused or operationally complex environment preferred
• Strong process- and solution-oriented mindset with the ability to translate financial data into actionable business insights
• Proven ability to analyze large and complex data sets to identify risks, opportunities, and performance drivers
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting financial insights to senior or executive-level stakeholders
• Advanced proficiency in standard productivity and data analysis tools, including spreadsheets and presentation software
• Strong business acumen with a solid understanding of operational and financial dynamics
• Flexible, collaborative team player with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
