What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounts Payable Specialist position at UHY-US?
A great UHY client is seeking an AP Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will have solid accounts payable experience, as well as job costing experience and payroll experience (both a plus, but not required).
The AP Specialist position is a fully onsite position. This is a client direct hire position.
AP Specialist Responsibilities:
- Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform three-way matching of invoices, purchase orders, and receiving documentation.
- Review invoices for proper coding, approvals, and compliance with company policies.
- Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers.
- Maintain vendor records, including W-9s and payment terms.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies or payment issues.
- Reconcile vendor statements and investigate outstanding balances.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals and AP aging review.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and audit requirements.
- Support process improvement initiatives within the accounts payable function.
AP Specialist Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred, but not required.
- Strong understanding of three-way matching and invoice processing workflows.
- Experience with ERP systems
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including basic formulas and data organization.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
