McDowell Center for Children (a UHS facility):

McDowell Center is a 28-bed residential treatment facility located in Dyersburg, Tennessee, for adolescent males experiencing mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Our staff is made up of licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and technicians who offer 24-hour support for our patients. We provide young men with the skills they need to improve their thinking patterns, make healthier choices, and create new futures with improved outlooks and outcomes. This is our Outpatient facility with a population of males and females ages 12-17.

POSITION SUMMARY:

McDowell Center for Children is seeking a dynamic and talented Mental Health Tech/Transportator. The Mental Health Tech/Transportator coordinates, and controls, and documents all movement, activity, and services of the adolescent in their care while transportating.. The Mental Health Tech/Transportator also maintains the safety and security of the environment while on duty, and effectively communicates with the next shift regarding the status of all.

Education:                                                      High School Diploma is required.

Experience:                                                     One-year experience working with a psychiatric resident population preferred. Good driving record.

   Licensure/Certification:                               Valid Tennessee driver license.

Knowledge:                                                     Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with                                                                                aggressive behaviors, and CPR training.

Supervision Received:                                    Shift Supervisor, Program Manager, CEO

Supervision Exercised:                                 N/A

   Environmental Conditions:                          Exposure to psychiatric residents who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General                                                                              residential treatment center environment while on McDowell Center property, typical traffic conditions while performing transport duties.
