The Technologist will be responsible for the independent operation of echo and/or vascular equipment in the Clinic, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using this equipment. This position will be responsible for the daily operations of the department including patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment. This will include active participation in the development of new procedures, which may result from new technology and/or research developments in conjunction with physician requests for such procedures. A technologist maintains a high level of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase their level of understanding of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Vascular/Echo Techs are responsible for interacting positively with all Clinic staff, including physicians and mid-levels providers. Candidates are expected to be courteous and helpful to the Clinic’s patients, their families, and the Clinic staff at all times.
Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics that align with UHS acute care facilities. Qualifications
Education:
- Professional certification/registry is required. All sonographers must be credentialed as required by ICAEL.
- ARDMS registry and/or if registry eligible, must complete registry within 1 year of employment
- CCI registry and/or if registry eligible, must complete registry within 1 year of employment
Graduate of an accredited two year program/college/school. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Work experience: A minimum of five years of experience in providing these procedures in a healthcare environment is required
Knowledge:
- Candidates are expected to be knowledgeable and recognize basic as well as lethal EKG arrhythmias
- Must have experience in noninvasive procedures to include one of the following, but more than one is preferred:
- Vascular procedures
- Echo procedures
Abilities:
- Able to handle stressful situations
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
