Respiratory Therapist – Full Time

What You’ll Do
As a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll play a vital role in assessing patients, delivering evidence‑based respiratory care, and ensuring accurate documentation. You’ll support departmental operations while providing safe, effective treatment to patients experiencing cardiopulmonary difficulties. Responsibilities include:
- Obtaining data pertinent to therapy through chart review and physical assessment
- Administering oxygen therapy, aerosol and humidity therapy, trach care and management, chest physiotherapy, incentive spirometry, suctioning, bedside respiratory measurements, pulse oximetry, and EKGs
- Completing new therapy starts within one hour and responding promptly to emergency situations
- Functioning within the Oklahoma Respiratory Care Practitioner scope of practice
- Cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilizing equipment per SMRMC policy
- Routinely cleaning and assembling departmental equipment before end of shift and checking assigned areas for dirty equipment
- Providing complete and competent ventilatory management for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients, including treatments, airway management, and tracheal suctioning
- Documenting patient status and care provided, including heart rate, respiratory rate, SaO₂, lung sounds, treatment effectiveness, and any adverse reactions
- Adhering to the “five rights” of medication administration and using two patient identifiers
- Consistently documenting in iView

Qualifications
What We’re Looking For
Licensure / Certification / Registration
- Graduate of an accredited respiratory program with at least an associate degree
- Current Oklahoma RCP license or Provisional Letter (valid until Board meeting date listed)
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required and maintained
- BLS required
- ACLS and PALS required within six (6) months of hire; annual recertification required
- SECURE training required within six (6) months of hire
- NRP preferred
Experience & Skills
- Some clinical experience preferred
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Typing and basic computer skills required
