Qualifications
Purpose: To assist the Director of Clinical Services with the clinical and operational function of the Clinical Services Department and to provide clinically indicated psychotherapy to individuals and groups. Patients served include adults (ages 18-65), geriatrics (66 ), adolescents (ages 13-17) and children (5-12).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- To maintain documentation of therapeutic services provided.
- To provide case management to assigned patients.
- To recognize signs and symptoms of chemical dependency disorders and apply/utilize appropriate treatment interventions.
- To recognize signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and apply/utilize appropriate treatment interventions.
- To keep psychiatrists and treatment team informed of patients’ status.
- To participate in and to document clinical supervision, if applicable.
- To attend team and therapy meetings; to provide consultation to treatment team.
- To assess all chemical dependency needs of the patient, using the twelve (12) core functions.
- To develop treatment plans.
- To provide clinical programming for patients and families.
- To complete psychosocial history.
- To interface with Utilization Review on a regular basis to determine patient treatment needs within managed care counseling.
- To complete discharge planning requirements.
- To oversee interns and practicum students including interviewing, scheduling, supervising and evaluating therapist interns
- To assist Clinical Services Director in scheduling and time management of staff.
- To assist Clinical Services Director in chart audits of entire hospital.
- To assist Clinical Services Director in training of new therapy staff.
- To assist Clinical Services Director in evaluation of current staff members.
- To act in place of Social Services Director when needed.
- Service Excellence is a primary goal! Provide the best customer service experience. Identify staff providing service excellence.
Customers Served:
Patients, families, allied health professionals, physicians, staff from all hospital departments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to assess patient’s needs for therapeutic services and make appropriate referrals. Ability to provide appropriate documentation. Expertise in language interpretation preferred.
EDUCATION:
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Current NC Driver’s License
Required – Licensed Master Social Worker or, Licensed Clinical Social Worker or, Licensed Professional Counselor or, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor is preferred
Current CPR
Current Physical and Verbal Crisis Prevention Intervention Certification
EXPERIENCE:
Three (3) years relevant leadership experience in a psychiatric/behavioral health facility.

Participates in therapeutic crisis intervention with physically aggressive patients which may involve some personal risk. May encounter some chemicals listed in the MSDS sheets. Travel by car and/or air.
Physical Requirements:
Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients with assistance. Manual and finger dexterity. Hand-eye coordination. Ability to run. Ability to restrain patients weighing up to 250 pounds with assistance. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to perform CPR. Ability to drive a vehicle. Ability to walk 6 hours daily. Frequent standing, bending, stooping and reaching in order to move items or assist patients. Hearing and vision sufficient to perform essential function. Emotional stability necessary to perform essential functions. Ability to speak clearly. Ability to write legible.
