Mental Health Advocate Opportunity - Dual Diagnosis Unit, Part Time Day Shift

 

This is a 24 hour per week, day shift psoition on HRI Hospital's Dual Diagnosis Unit. The schedule for this position is every Monday and Thursday plus every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday). Prior substance use patient population experienced is preferred.

 

HRI Hospital is 66-bed psychiatric facility with adult inpatient services and several partial hospitalization programs. As a Mental Health Advocate, you will:

  • Monitor patient safety on the inpatient psychiatric units
  • Assist nursing staff with patient treatment procedures
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living
  • Provide routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment
  • Document and communicate unusual or erratic changes in client behaviors
  • Assist with patient groups and activities

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Experience & Education:
    • High School diploma AND a minimum of 3 years of psychiatric experience

OR

    • Bachelor’s degree in human services field or current student pursuing a Bachelor's degree AND 1 year of psychiatric experience
  • Other:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • Physical Fitness – Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
    • Must be comfortable working with patients in acute psychiatric distress
    • Prior experience working with a dual diagnosis / substance use patient population is preferred
