What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Records Technician (PRN) position at UHS?
The Medical Records Technician is responsible for receipt and preparation of all materials related to internal and external correspondence and requests for medical records information. Abstracts and assembles patient discharge records in accordance with established policies and procedures. Maintains confidentiality of medical records. Performs duties in accordance with the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care, and facility mission, values, policies, and behavioral standards.

Cedar Ridge Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient and residential treatment services for youth ages 5-17, as well as inpatient, patial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services for adults ages 18 . Our treatment programs provide a structured and supportive treatment environment that promotes self-acceptance and helps stabilize patients suffering from acute psychiatric illness. Our multidisciplinary treatment teams consist of psychiatrists, licensed therapists and highly specialized nurses who collaborate to develop and implement effective and compassionate treatment plans for our patients. Cedar Ridge is a behavioral health facility that encompasses a 206-bed acute psychiatric hospital and residential treatment center on a beautifully wooded campus with a stocked pond, school, gym, outdoor courtyard and playground. Qualifications
- One (1) to three (3) years in medical records department
- Secretarial background preferred
- Experience in a psychiatric setting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of an approved school of health information science preferred
- Minimum of 21 years of age required
- Successfully complete a drug test
- Successfully pass a national background check
- Must possess valid Drivers License
