Endoscopy Technician: Endoscopy technicians assist doctors and nurses that perform endoscopy procedures. They prepare and maintain the instruments and equipment used in endoscopy. They clean, disinfect, and calibrate endoscopy instruments and scopes according the standards of the facility.

Essential Job Duties:

• Demonstrates knowledge of the step-by-step progress of specific endoscopy procedures for all surgical services
• Anticipates physician’s needs in regard to instrumentation and supplies, etc
• Displays dexterity in the use of the required instrumentation according to technique, procedure and special requirements
• Demonstrates ability to function in endoscopy situations.
• Anticipates instrumentation/equipment for a wide range of simple and complex endoscopy procedures
• Pulls appropriate instrumentation and supplies consistent with physician’s preference
  Endoscopy environment is set up and organized prior to patient's arrival into room
• Utilizes clean and aseptic technique

Knowledge/Skills/Experience:

• Minimum of one (1) year recent clinical acute care Gastro technologist experience (Required)
• Current BLS issued by the American Heart Association (Required)
• Knowledge of preparing and maintaining a sterile field.
• Knowledge of instrumentation and supplies necessary for endoscopy procedures.
• Basic communication skills, problem solving techniques and professional interpersonal relations skills
