Creative Arts Therapist

Located on a 27-acre wooded campus, Fairmount Behavioral Health System is a peaceful, therapeutic environment for patients and families. Fairmount is a major regional resource for children, adolescents and adults who have psychiatric and behavioral problems as well as alcohol and drug dependency needs. The spacious campus borders Fairmount Park in the Roxborough section of Philadelphia. With one of the leading alcohol and drug detox and rehab programs in Philadelphia, Fairmount is the provider of choice for individuals requiring specialized co-occurring psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Creative Arts Therapist, working Sunday thru Thursday to join our team!

Creative Arts Therapist is responsible for assessing patients’ leisure and recreational activities, providing age and developmentally appropriate therapy groups using a combination of activities, creative arts modalities, and talk therapy, helping patients develop safety/crisis plans, and establishing behavioral treatment goals in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Fairmount Behavioral Health System. 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description.  The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position.  The Creative Arts Therapist will report directly to the Director of Therapeutic Services. 

• Education: Master’s degree in Counseling and/or related field with specialization in a creative arts/allied therapy modality (i.e. art, music, movement, recreation, occupational therapy)
• Experience: One (1) year prior experience in Behavioral health field working with people in recovery from mental health disorders preferred   
• Licensure/Certification: PA professional license preferred but not required. Possesses current registration, certification, or licensure in accordance with state and/or national board standards of specific field of a creative arts/allied  therapy/counseling preferred  (i.e. art, music, movement, recreation, occupational therapy)
