Responsibilities
Qualifications
- Assists in the creation of education tools and training based upon identified needs of the hospital
- Works with the CNO to evaluate and modify training materials to maximize success and ensure training fully represents the mission and vision of the organization.
- Assist in the development of key performance metrics to measure the success of the training programs.
- Oversee training/performance of new and existing Anchor Hospital staff and provide specific feedback and mentorship.
- Oversee all training calendars
- Delivers high quality, high impact, and engaging training that set new hires and current staff up for success.
- Develops robust mentoring programming.
- Assesses content of clinical and non-clinical in-service programs and makes revisions based on performance improvement data, accrediting agency standards, and Risk Management findings.
- Creates, modifies and delivers clinical and non-clinical training programs resulting from needs assessments
- Makes appropriate arrangements to conduct in-service programs such as classroom space, speakers, and training materials.
- Maintains correspondence and communication for in-service programs.
- Maintain documentation of educational training records, resources, and current licenses.
- Utilizes time efficiently in performing duties.
- Initiates work independently without request by supervisor.
- Conducts RN orientation, Psychiatric Technician Orientation, Student Nurse Orientation, Staff Development in-services based on identified needs.
- Coordinates and teaches Handle With Care (HWC) and Verbal De-Escalation (Verbal D) Coordinates annual CPR certification.
- Assists new employees with completing the orientation modules in HealthStream. Coordinates annual mandatory trainings in HealthStream with current employees.
- Works with Human Resource Department to track HWC, Verbal D and CPR compliance
- Develops and revises evaluation tools to monitor the effectiveness of in-service programs. Provides consultation and training for identified needs. Participates in special Staff Development projects.
- Communicates status of Staff Development in-services to appropriate staff.
- Demonstrates a professional attitude and supports objectives of the hospital’s marketing and guest relation philosophy through internal and external communication and interaction with all levels of staff, patients, family members, guests, community, and referral sources.
- Demonstrates the ability to work with a variety of individuals regardless of racial, ethnic, sexual orientation, or sociological backgrounds.
May be required to fulfill function of RN,
Qualifications
Education/Training:
- Registered Nurse licensed in the District of Columbia.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or related mental health field.
Experience:
- Three years of nursing experience in clinical setting.
- Knowledge of Adult Learning Principles, Nursing Sciences, and Psychiatric Nursing Theories.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including clarity and articulation of thoughts, appropriate grammar, style, form, and punctuation.
- Five years of experience in staff development.
- Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Two years’ experience in milieu management
- BMP development
- Recreational Programming
Licensure/Certification:
- Current Georgia Driver’s License
- Current Georgia Registered Nurse License
