POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lead Technologist functions as the lead person for Radiologic Technologists in the Cardiac Cath Laboratory, for an assigned shift and in this capacity performs lead job duties and/or regularly leads projects or performs specialized responsibilities as a regular part of normal job responsibilities. Serves as the liaison between management, staff, vendors and physicians for routine matters as the primary point of contact for resolving questions and issues for Technologist jobs as well as support staff, resulting in the delivery of exceptional patient care and adherence to standards of practice for optimal patient safety, quality outcomes, and customer service. Duties may be varied and may include many of the following: Assists in maintaining staffing productivity, organize work schedules, make work assignments, conduct quality assurance audits of staff performance, develop and implement quality improvement activities, train and mentor staff, provide feedback on staff performance and developmental needs, participate in the development of skills and performance of staff, lead and regularly perform special projects, collect/analyze/report on data, prepare reports on performance and metrics, and other responsibilities of a similar nature and level. This job requires availability to be on rotational call with staff RT and RCIS. Maintains department compliance with TDSHS and TJC guidelines. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. 2 years prior Special Procedure and/or Radiographer experience preferred.
2. Membership in related professional organization preferred.
3. Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS’s Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.
EDUCATION / LICENSURE:
1. Graduate from an approved school in Radiologic Technology.
2. Currently licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) in the State of Texas
3. Current ARRT Licensure (Technologists that are exempted from the ARRT certification must meet the requirement on Public Law 97-35.)
4. Non-Radiologic Technologist must have active certification with Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) as an (RCIS) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or (RCES) Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist.
5. Current certification in Interventional Angiography preferred.
6. Must have and maintain current BCLS and ACLS certifications, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider’s Program.
