Insurance Verification Specialist
Join the expanding team in our new state of the art 132 bed behavioral health facility!
Prairie St. John's has been providing services for children, adolescents, and adults to address behavioral health and substance use challenges since 1997. Prairie offers inpatient hospitalization, day treatment, and intensive outpatient services. Accredited by The Joint Commission, we are the largest, freestanding behavioral health facility in the region. More than 4,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Prairie St. John's.
The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for obtaining, entering, and maintaining accurate insurance benefits information for all patients across all levels of care. This role ensures a seamless revenue cycle by verifying coverage, obtaining authorizations, communicating patient responsibilities, and assisting with billing/denials management.

The Insurance Verification Specialist is responsible for obtaining, entering, and maintaining accurate insurance benefits information for all patients across all levels of care. This role ensures a seamless revenue cycle by verifying coverage, obtaining authorizations, communicating patient responsibilities, and assisting with billing/denials management.
Key Responsibilities
- Verification & Entry: Perform daily, accurate insurance verification (coverage, network status, authorizations) for admitted patients and assess the NA calendar.
- Patient Communication: Inform patients/families of benefits, coverage limitations, and financial responsibility.
- Financial Coordination: Obtain signed payment arrangements, medical assistance applications, or Personal Payment Plans.
- Documentation & Follow-up: Maintain updated insurance records, track patient transitions between programs, and manage pending or accessed-but-not-admitted accounts.
- Billing Support: Generate patient bills, follow up on claims, and work denied claims.

- Good communication and relationship skills
