The Regional Engineering Manager will oversee engineering, facility operations, and maintenance services across multiple sites within a designated region. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of building systems and infrastructure. The Regional Manager will lead regional engineering teams, manage multi-site vendor relationships, and drive best practices in preventive and predictive maintenance to support critical business operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Management:
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, maintenance technicians, and support staff to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for facility operations and maintenance.
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational excellence.
- Facility Operations & Maintenance:
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems across multiple facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and specialized systems.
- Implement regional preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, and building codes) across all managed sites.
- Project Management:
- Develop and manage capital projects, renovations, and system upgrades across the region, ensuring timely and budget-conscious execution.
- Collaborate with property management, tenants, and stakeholders to align regional project goals and objectives.
- Manage large-scale projects involving multiple locations, ensuring consistency in quality and standards.
- Budgeting & Financial Management:
- Develop and manage the annual regional operating and capital budgets for engineering and maintenance activities.
- Monitor expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and optimize resource allocation without compromising service quality.
- Vendor & Contract Management:
- Select, negotiate, and manage contracts with regional vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality work and cost-efficiency.
- Regularly evaluate vendor performance and maintain strong relationships with key partners across the region.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure that all facilities within the region adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Develop regional emergency response plans and ensure site readiness for any potential incidents.
- Conduct regular safety audits and compliance checks across multiple sites.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement:
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance regional facility performance.
- Drive innovation initiatives focused on sustainability, energy efficiency, and operational excellence across the region.
- Lead efforts to implement smart building technologies and data-driven decision-making for facility management.

Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field; an advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., PE, CFM, CHFM, LEED AP) are highly preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in facilities management, with at least 5 years in a regional leadership role within industries such as life sciences, pharmaceuticals, medical, or research facilities.
- Extensive knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and specialized infrastructure.
- Proven track record in preventive and predictive maintenance programs, energy management, and sustainability initiatives across multiple locations.
- Strong project management capabilities, with experience managing multi-site projects and balancing competing priorities.
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with a focus on team development and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) and other relevant software.
- Ability to travel as needed across the region and respond to emergencies outside of regular business hours.
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physical labor related to maintenance and repair.
- Work environment may include exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and occasional outdoor weather conditions.
- Regular travel required between regional sites, with potential exposure to wet or humid conditions and high, precarious places.
