The Associate Human Resources Business Partner (Associate HRBP) provides field-focused HR support across UG2’s Northern California region, including Stanford and surrounding accounts. This role serves as a critical link between operations leadership and corporate HR, with a strong emphasis on hands-on employee relations, compliance, and onboarding, while gaining progressive exposure to labor relations, investigations, and workforce development. Under the guidance of the Regional HRBP and Vice President of People, the Associate HRBP supports consistent HR execution, ensures legal compliance, and helps drive employee engagement aligned with UG2’s culture of service excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary HR contact for assigned accounts across Northern California, including Sacramento, San Francisco, East Bay, South Bay, Stanford, and other regional sites as needed, supporting both union and non-union operations.
- Partner with operations management to resolve employee relations issues, conduct and document investigations, and provide coaching on progressive discipline and corrective action in alignment with UG2 policies and practices.
- Collaborate with the Senior/Regional HRBP and Legal on labor relations matters, including grievance responses, contract interpretation, information requests, and communication with union representatives and business agents.
- Support and monitor the performance management process, ensuring documentation accuracy, timely completion, and adherence to UG2 policy and California labor law, including wage and hour and meal and rest period requirements.
- Oversee regional onboarding and compliance activities for assigned accounts, including I-9 verification, background check resolution, and coordination of new hire orientations in partnership with Talent Acquisition and Onboarding teams.
- Ensure site-level compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, wage and hour requirements, and mandated labor postings, escalating issues to the Regional HRBP as appropriate.
- Conduct periodic site audits of HR files, required postings, and safety records to ensure ongoing compliance and readiness for internal or external review.
- Assist with investigations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and workplace misconduct by gathering statements, organizing documentation, and supporting timely and accurate reporting.
- Partner with Corporate HR to deploy and reinforce training programs, including harassment prevention, attendance, code of conduct, and policy awareness modules for supervisors and employees.
- Contribute to data tracking and reporting related to headcount, turnover, disciplinary trends, and onboarding metrics, ensuring data integrity and timely updates for regional and corporate reviews.
- Support regional transitions, acquisitions, and new account startups through onboarding coordination, documentation tracking, communication planning, and cultural alignment activities as directed by the Regional HRBP.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with client representatives, union stakeholders, and site leadership to strengthen UG2’s partnerships and ensure high-quality HR service delivery.
- Act as a resource for field supervisors and managers by providing guidance on HR systems, policies, and best practices, and by helping them navigate day-to-day HR issues and escalations.
- Support engagement and retention initiatives designed to enhance workplace culture, recognition, and employee satisfaction across assigned accounts.
- Perform other related duties and participate in special HR projects as assigned by the Regional HRBP or Vice President of People.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Operates as an individual contributor with influence across assigned regions. The Associate HRBP does not have direct reports but provides coaching, guidance, and support to site leadership, supervisors, and managers on HR practices, employee relations, and compliance standards. The role helps ensure alignment with UG2’s policies, service expectations, and client requirements while escalating complex or high-risk matters to the Regional HRBP.
Requirements (Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Education and/or Experience):
- 4–6 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a multi-site, regional, or field support role.
- Experience managing employee relations matters, including supporting or conducting investigations and partnering with operations leadership on corrective action and performance management documentation.
- Proven ability to support labor relations in unionized environments, including familiarity with grievance handling, contract interpretation, and union communication under guidance from senior HR and Legal.
- Working knowledge of California labor and employment law, including wage and hour compliance, meal and rest periods, leave administration, and relevant posting requirements.
- Demonstrated success in organizing and maintaining accurate HR documentation, records, and audit-ready files.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills with the ability to partner effectively across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Experience with HRIS systems (preferably ADP Vantage) and comfort using data for tracking, audits, and reporting.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, field-based environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and or experience.
- Professional certification such as PHR or SHRM-CP preferred but not required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel approximately 25–30% within the Northern California region.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule with routine site visits, flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends based on operational needs.

Must be able to travel independently to multiple locations and work in varying environments such as corporate offices, campuses, and field sites. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed for transporting files or materials. May be required to work occasional evenings or weekends to support operational needs, investigations, trainings, or account transitions.
