Overview
The Clinical Risk Manager participates in pro-active risk assessments; plans, organizes and implements clinical risk management strategies for the UF Health Shands Clinical Risk Management (CRM) Program, with the objective of preventing adverse events for patients and minimizing loss to the organization.

The Clinical Risk Manager participates in pro-active risk assessments; plans, organizes and implements clinical risk management strategies for the UF Health Shands Clinical Risk Management (CRM) Program, with the objective of preventing adverse events for patients and minimizing loss to the organization.
In Addition
- Investigates patient safety events to determine severity and potential reportability per regulatory/accreditation risk management standards.
- Conducts root cause analyses and shares lessons learned.
- Coordinates and/or conducts clinical risk management educational offerings.
- Collaborates with Self Insurance Program (SIP) Claims.
- Ensures implementation of recommendations identified through event management or Performance Improvement initiatives.
- Conducts daily review and analysis of patient safety reports and addresses identified trends.
- Develops risk-reduction strategies based on claims data. Initiates or participates in the clinical quality and safety activities of the facility.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in a clinical or healthcare related field.
- Minimum two years experience in healthcare risk management and/or activities in an acute care setting related to patient safety, process improvement, or healthcare quality initiatives required (academic medical center and inpatient hospitalization experience preferred).
- Knowledge and prior application of data analysis skills.
- Leadership skills, including experience in facilitation, communication and presentation to executive level audiences.
Must Have
- Excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills;
- Computer skills include proficiency in the use of email applications, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; application of strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities;
- The ability to work under pressure and good communication and presentation skills
- Prefer Knowledge of applicable standards of health care risk management and hospital-wide regulatory experience; knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local health and safety laws/rules communication and presentation skills..
