The Director of Community Engagement oversees campus-wide community outreach initiatives at UF Health Jacksonville and reports to the Vice President of Community Engagement. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on management, developing, implementing, and overseeing community engagement strategies, partnerships, outreach programs, and UF Health Jacksonville-sponsored events. Community engagement efforts within the UF Health system are tailored to each hospital, with distinct structural and reporting relationships.
Responsibilities
- Oversee community outreach initiatives and major events involving external relations and public engagement.
- Represent UF Health Jacksonville in community engagement efforts, collaborating with leadership as needed on public relations and strategic initiatives.
- Oversee the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA), coordinating with area hospitals to implement CHNA initiatives, ensure alignment with campus priorities, optimize resource utilization, and drive measurable outcomes.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications leadership, as well as outreach and public relations professionals at other hospital systems and within the broader community.
- Oversee the campus-wide community outreach website and lead engagement team meetings, enhancing collaboration, establishing structured processes, and ensuring initiatives align with UF Health Jacksonville's strategic goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor within the scope of the role.
- Required: Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public relations, community outreach, public affairs, nonprofit management, government relations, or a related field. Experience working with community, regional, or state leaders/officials is preferred.
- Preferred: Experience in public affairs, corporate outreach, or nonprofit leadership, with a demonstrated ability to build professional relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with colleagues, leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners.
- Proficiency in utilizing and contributing to social media platforms for outreach and engagement.
- Demonstrated success in budget planning and financial management.
- Ability to build, lead, and motivate teams with varied skills and expertise.
- Proven ability to develop collaborative, cross-functional relationships with senior leadership and key stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, analytical, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
