What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic Helper position at UDP TN HAULING LLC?
A mechanic helper's job is to assist an auto mechanic with the maintenance and repair of vehicles, machinery, and equipment:
- Vehicle testing: Test drive vehicles to ensure repairs are completed properly
- Shop cleanliness: Assist in keeping the work area clean, and return tools to their proper location
- Log updates: Update maintenance and repair logs for vehicles
- Repair and maintenance: Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks, such as replacing brake shoes, oil changes, and tune-ups
- Equipment preparation: Assemble and disassemble equipment, such as lathes, milling machines, and drill presses, to prepare them for use
- Tool operation: Operate basic hand and power tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, and power drills
- Inventory management: Maintain an inventory of replacement parts and equipment, and inspect tools and equipment to ensure they are in working order
Mechanic helpers may also perform other related duties, such as fire watch and welder's helper.
There are no formal qualifications to become a mechanic helper, but UDP would prefer a high school diploma or GED certificate, in addition to, we would also prefer candidates with a valid driver's license.
