Position Overview

We are seeking a Land-Use Planner to join our multidisciplinary engineering and land surveying team. This position plays a key role in guiding development projects through zoning, subdivision, and entitlement processes while coordinating closely with a multi-discipline design team.

The ideal candidate brings strong regulatory knowledge, practical land-use entitlement experience, and the ability to collaborate across technical disciplines to deliver successful project approvals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct zoning and land-use research to evaluate development feasibility.
  • Prepare and manage entitlement applications, including rezonings, annexations, conditional use permits, variances, site plans, and tentative plats.
  • Coordinate with land surveyors on easements, re-plats, lot line adjustments, partitions, and subdivisions.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure site and building design aligns with zoning and development standards.
  • Attend and present at pre-application, planning commission, zoning board, and city council conferences and hearings.
  • Track project schedules and manage entitlement milestones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a closely related field with 3 years of relevant experience; or a Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, Landscape Architecture, or a closely related field with 2 years of experience in land use planning consultation or local government planning
  • Working knowledge of local zoning codes, subdivision regulations, comprehensive plans, and entitlement processes.
  • Ability to interpret survey documents, legal descriptions, civil engineering and architectural plans.
  • Strong technical and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple project applications in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AICP certification.
  • Experience with drafting (e.g., AutoCAD or Civil 3D).

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $33.25 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.0 – 40.0 per week
