Job Description
Assists with clinical management and administrative coordination of the nursing unit. The position is a combination of clinical (patient care) and administrative responsibilities. Provides 24 hour oversight and supervision to departmental nurses and other medical resources when nursing manager is out or unavailable. Receives assignments in the form of objectives with patient care goals and the overall process by which to meet goals. Provides direction to staff according to established policies, collective bargaining agreements and management guidance. Acts as an expert clinician for sub-unit and provides guidance and best practices to staff as required. Administers policies that directly affect subordinate employees. Handles escalated employee or patient issues and/ or escalates as needed. Provides input and recommendations to changes to unit or sub-unit policies and practices to best meet patient care needs. Identifies program or process risks and responds accordingly. Provide priority setting and work flow analysis. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources. Maintains a collaborative relationship with workforce members and MD leadership in support of team work, new fellow/student orientation, and safe provision of care/use of equipment. Assists in the oversight of needed supplies/equipment and monitoring of associated expenses. Management reviews work to measure meeting of objectives.
Department Description
The department cares for adult patients needing complex invasive cardiac intervention via electrophysiology and cardiac catheterization. The incumbent supervises a 6-lab adult interventional cardiology department with 7-bed holding room. The Interventional Cardiology Department performs inpatient and outpatient electrophysiology procedures, cardiac catheterizations, and structural heart procedures. The holding room area is utilized for pre-/post-procedure functions and some non-invasive procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.
- 3 years of directly related experience in Cath Lab or EP units.
- Projects a calm, reassuring and confident manner and promotes a cohesive team environment.
- Consistently achieves high standards in clinical duties and holds self to same standards as others are held to.
- Makes decisions in the best interest of the patient and staff. Consistently uses good judgment in making decisions.
- Effectively listens and communicates to peers both positive and constructive feedback.
- Able to admit fault and acknowledge others’ position without becoming defensive.
- Maintains positive attitude towards unit and work, helping to build unit’s positive reputation.
- Ability to model and influence patient care best practices to staff members.
- Handles escalated patient or staff issues and provides input and suggestions for resolving any problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science Degree in Nursing.

License/Certification
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
- Current healthcare provider CPR certification
- ACLS

Pay: $71,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
