What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician II (Infusion) position at UCSF Health?
The Department of Clinical Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Services share their philosophy of pharmaceutical care. Under Pharmaceutical Services, the Pharmacy Technician II provides pharmaceutical care to patients at Parnassus, Mission Bay, and Mount Zion campuses and specialized services to researchers on campus. All Pharmacy Technicians are accountable to the supervising or operating pharmacist who is legally responsible by virtue of state licensure for the care and safety of patients served by Pharmaceutical Services. The Pharmacy Technician II performs all activities related to medication preparation, inventory management, and computer entries of prescriptions.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $36.05 - $44.91 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
Required Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized/accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (includes hands-on training period during externship), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience as a Pharmacy Technician in hospitals or health care, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician Certification CPhT
- Preferred candidates with at least two years of I.V. Additives experience
- Knowledge of USP 797/800 standards, hazardous and aseptic IV techniques for sterile compounding
- Knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint software programs, Pyxis machine, and Primary Engineering Control (PEC)
License/Certification
- Active Licensed Pharmacy Technician by the California Board of Pharmacy and in good standin
- Pharmacy Technician Certification CPhT - Preferred
