What You’ll Do
- Assist with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, hygiene)
- Help individuals build independence and life skills
- Support with cooking, cleaning, and daily routines
- Provide hands-on assistance with mobility and care
- Accompany individuals to appointments and community outings
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment
- Complete documentation in line with OPWDD guidelines
What You Need
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Valid NYS Driver’s License (preferred)
- Experience is a plus (DSP, HHA, CNA, PCA, caregiving, customer service) — but NOT required
- A positive attitude and passion for helping others

Qualifications:Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred. Experience with the developmentally delayed and disabled preferred.
Language Skills
Ability to read a limited number of two-and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Possess verbal and written communication skills necessary for effective communication
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid clean NYS Driver's License with no more than 12 points; required throughout employment.
- No convictions for crimes that preclude a person from working with members of a vulnerable population.
- Candidates will be required to meet additional requirements to provide care to the developmentally disabled including clearance from the New York State Child Abuse Registry and the Medicaid Fraud Prevention and Detection Database. In addition a criminal background check will be conducted.
- Completion of OPWDD Medication Administration (AMAP) course, Strategies in Crisis Intervention and Prevention (SCIP) course, First Aid, Driver’s Training and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Residential Performance Standards Certification within the probationary period.
- Certifications must be maintained as required by each course.
- Attend at all Agency and Program mandatory trainings; in addition to completion of Agency Orientation and Residential Training programs.
