Job Summary:
The Dean of Students & Campus Operations is responsible for ensuring a safe, structured, and well-functioning school environment that supports student success and strong daily operations. This role oversees student discipline and school culture while also managing key campus operational functions, including front office systems, enrollment processes, and extended day programming.
Working closely with the principal, this position ensures that both the instructional environment and campus operations run efficiently, allowing teachers and staff to remain focused on high-quality instruction.
Job Responsibilities:
Student Discipline & School Culture
• Oversee all aspects of student discipline in alignment with school policies, procedures, and restorative practices.
• Ensure consistent, fair, and developmentally appropriate responses to student behavior.
• Lead investigations, documentation, and communication related to student incidents.
• Partner with families to address behavioral concerns and support positive student outcomes.
• Promote a positive school culture focused on respect, safety, responsibility, and belonging.
• Lead the campus Child Study Team (CST) process, including intervention planning, documentation, and truancy compliance.
• Oversee campus Threat Assessment processes and ensure required procedures and documentation are completed in compliance with consortium expectations
• Support and monitor implementation of PBIS initiatives in collaboration with the campus PBIS committee.
Campus Operations, Safety and Compliance
• Oversee daily front office operations to ensure a welcoming, efficient, and well-organized environment for students, families, and visitors.
• Supervise front desk staff and ensure strong customer service, accurate communication, and consistent procedures.
• Ensure effective systems for attendance, student check-in/check-out, and visitor management.
• Develop, implement, and monitor campus duty schedules (e.g., arrival, dismissal, car line, lunch, and supervision), ensuring appropriate staff coverage, clear expectations, and safe, efficient daily operations; hold staff accountable for fulfilling assigned duties.
• Ensure the campus “Red Binder” and all required operational, safety, and compliance documentation are maintained and up to date.
• Monitor completion and documentation of required drills, inspections, and safety procedures.
• Assist in ensuring campus facilities are safe, clean, organized, and well-maintained.
• Monitor and ensure accurate collection, tracking, and reporting of school-based payments and fees.
Testing, Special Areas & Campus Events
• Oversee campus testing coordination and logistics for state assessments, progress monitoring, and other required assessments.
• Ensure testing procedures, scheduling, training, accommodations, security requirements, and documentation are completed in compliance with district and state guidelines.
• Provide operational oversight and support for special area programs including Physical Education, Art, and related enrichment activities.
• Assist with planning and coordination of campus events and activities including field day, assemblies, celebrations, and other special programs.
• Ensure appropriate supervision, scheduling, logistics, and operational support for campus activities and events.
Collaboration & Communication
• Serve as a key member of the school leadership team, supporting campus-wide goals and initiatives.
• Collaborate with instructional leaders to ensure operations and student systems support strong classroom instruction.
• Support staff with clear expectations, training, and accountability related to operational procedures and student support systems.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, and professional development of operational and student support staff, as appropriate.
• Assist the Principal with campus supervision, safety protocols, and day-to-day school operations.
