Position Overview
UCP Heartland is seeking a dedicated and experienced Director of Nursing to lead our nursing team in delivering high-quality healthcare services across all agency programs. This leadership role ensures the health, safety, and well-being of clients by overseeing medical care coordination, clinical compliance, and staff development. This is a dynamic opportunity for a clinical leader who is passionate about providing care to individuals with developmental disabilities while working in a collaborative and mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the agency’s nursing team, including scheduling, evaluations, and ongoing training
- Provide oversight of medication management across all service lines, including Residential, Respite, Community Services, Child Development Center, Autism Clinics, and Camps
- Review medical documentation for accuracy, compliance, and quality of care
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that support client health and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with medical professionals, pharmacies, and external care providers to ensure coordinated care
- Ensure accurate, timely reporting of incidents and participate in investigations and mortality reviews
- Participate in support plan and CARE TEAM meetings, providing clinical input
- Use and manage electronic health systems (EHR and EMAR) for all required documentation
- Maintain budgetary oversight and support financial goals related to nursing services
- Provide clinical training, including teaching Level 1 Medication Administration classes
- Perform medical record reviews for potential client admissions
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
- Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Strong communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills
- Ability to lift and transfer adults weighing over 150 lbs with mechanical support
- Proficiency with computer software and electronic health records
- Reliable transportation and flexible work schedule availability
Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of RN experience
- 3 years of experience serving individuals with developmental disabilities
- Certified to teach Level 1 Medication Administration in Missouri
