When it comes to where you work, we know you’ve got choices…here’s what we provide:

• Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour
• Position Status: Part-time (FLEXIBLE!!!)
• Schedule: 2-3 Fridays per month, 5:30 pm – 10:15 pm

Responsibilities

Here’s what to expect as a Respite, Direct Support Professional (DSP):

• Ensure the delivery of evening respite services for each individual.
• Provide support in personal care, communications, and mobility as identified in the support plan. Provide companionship and socialization.
• Acquire and apply knowledge about the range of effective communication strategies and skills necessary to establish a collaborative relationship with the individual. Effectively communicate with the individual using information derived from the individuals' preferences, needs, and interests.
• Facilitate what is important to the person by continuously listening and learning in alliance with the person, their family, and friends.
• Modify support programs and interventions to ensure they are person centered. Promote the health and wellness of people receiving support. Observe and implement appropriate actions to promote healthy living and to prevent illness and accidents.
• Assist individuals in completing personal care (i.e., hygiene and grooming) activities.  Assist using needed adaptive equipment (i.e., adaptive equipment).  

Qualifications

Minimum requirements as a Respite, Direct Support Professional (DSP):

• A valid driver’s license and 6 months driving experience
• 18 years of age
• Previous Personal Care Aide, Caregiver, Direct Support Professional, or Direct Care Worker experience
• Access to a vehicle with valid insurance, registration, and inspection
• Ability to communicate, read, write, and understand the English language

Preferred, but not required:

• Knowledge of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or autism
• A High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate
