The Labor Relations Representative supports the Labor Relations Manager in fostering constructive labor-management relations and ensuring compliance with collective bargaining agreements and labor laws. This role involves assisting with contract administration, grievance resolution, policy development, and strategic bargaining initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Labor Relations Manager to analyze and proactively address potential labor issues.
- Support the development and approval process for labor standards and related documentation.
- Contribute to the administration of collective bargaining agreements and enforce established work rules.
- Partner with supervisory and management personnel to ensure consistent and compliant application of labor agreements.
- Assist the Labor Relations Manager in the administrative coordination of collective bargaining strategies for all agreements, including Construction Labor Agreements and ATLC Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Participate in the administration of all collective bargaining agreements, encompassing:
- Engagement in grievance and arbitration processes.
- Maintenance of accurate seniority and recall lists.
- Development and implementation of work rules for bargaining unit employees.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal labor laws, assessing their impact on Company policies and procedures related to employee relations.
- Prepare comprehensive Labor Relations reports as defined by departmental procedures and guidelines.
- Serve as a witness in legal proceedings when required.
- Actively promote and support positive labor-management relationships across the organization
Job-Related Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Human Resources, or a related discipline. A demonstrated equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience in Labor Relations.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and PowerPoint.
- Strong intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required for data analysis and reporting.
- Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with all levels of Company management and union representatives.
- Demonstrated ability to balance diplomacy, negotiation, and persuasion in communication.
- Interpersonal & Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven interpersonal skills, including the ability to build trust, mediate conflicts, and provide a stabilizing influence in union-management interactions and dispute resolution.
- Organizational & Leadership:
- Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to influence outcomes.
