Position Summary
The R&D Engineer Level 1 will conduct research in the areas of molecular and diagnostic projects. They will assist with performing basic including, but not limited to, fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry analyses, in vitro drug efficacy studies, etc. Responsibilities include cell culture and characterization, standard molecular biology techniques (PCR, RNA extractions, amplification, and purification), and coordinating interactions with other labs. Duties also include maintaining laboratory infrastructure, sourcing and procuring supplies, documenting protocols, supervision and training of students on equipment and laboratory techniques. The ability to independently create new optimized protocols (and for new instrumentation), evaluate their feasibility, maintain organized records, give advice to PIs on these designs is essential.

- Expert skills in molecular biology: - knowledge of manipulating and operation with biohazardous materials - knowledge of fluorescence microscopy and imaging - knowledge of cloning, PCR, qPCR techniques ability to troubleshoot equipment problems (Preferred)
- Knowledge of eukaryotic cell culture and characterization - ability to culture mammalian cells, including primary human and animal cells, and human and animal cell lines - familiarity with upright and inverted microscopes - knowledge of PCR, and western blots (Preferred)
- Exposure to next generation sequencing/genomics. (Preferred)
- Writing and communications skills, for laboratory protocols, regular reporting, presentations, and publications. (Required)
- Demonstrated communication skills to explain procedures and impart technical and safety information to others in an understandable manner. (Required)
- Experience in immunohistochemistry and/or immunofluorescence. (Preferred)
- Organized, detail oriented and a team player. (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
- Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
