The Pancreatic Research Group at UCLA/West Los Angeles VA Healthcare is seeking a Research Assistant. The role involves working in a team to investigate the mechanisms of diseases affecting the exocrine pancreas. Responsibilities include analyzing cellular and molecular changes in tissue using cell biology, biochemistry, and molecular techniques. This position includes all benefits offered by UCLA. The salary is 42- 44 K.
Responsibilities
Projects include maintaining colonies of genetically modified mice; genotyping animals; performing animal models of experimental pancreatitis; isolating and culturing acinar cells; collecting and fractionating tissues; and analyzing samples using PCR, Western blotting, ELISA, and fluorescence microscopy, with specific software for quantitative and statistical analysis. The position also requires performing ordering and administrative work related to the projects and maintaining safety and regulatory rules in the laboratory. The SRA must have excellent computer skills and be proficient in such Computer Programs as Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and GraphPad Prism.
Qualifications
B.S. is mandatory. Recent UC graduates with biology/chemistry-related majors are encouraged to apply.
