The Instructional Technology Manager (ITM) leads a multi-person front-line instructor support team, providing training and mentorship to career technical and graduate student staff. This position manages instructional technology services, support, and projects for over 20 departments and programs in the Humanities including the digital humanities at UCLA.

Qualifications

- Ability to lead a diverse team of part time technology consultants to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Research and Instructional Technology Consultant program, and the ability to hire, train, supervise and professionally mentor technical and operational staff. (Required)
- Knowledge of pedagogical issues in the Humanities, teaching, and learning with technology. Knowledge of tools, trends and issues in language technology and pedagogy as well as digital humanities instruction. Experience with learning analytics. Ability to teach others about these issues. (Required)
- Knowledge of instructional design principles and experience applying these principles to online instructional resources in a higher education environment. (Preferred)
- General understanding of Learning Management Systems and the standards, issues and trends in online learning systems. (Required)
- Detailed knowledge of learning management systems, specifically Canvas, and all services available through the Bruin Learn Center of Excellence. (Preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to keep track of developments in a large decentralized institution, cope with organizational complexity and large amounts of information. (Required)
- Experience with learning space design and management. (Required)
- Ability to initiate and innovate while also managing multiple projects according to team and organizational priorities. Ability to contribute to accurate project design specifications. (Preferred)
- Demonstrated skill in writing, using word processing, email, and other suitable electronic communications tools, to compose and edit letters, memoranda, reports, technical support documents, and other material in a concise and professional manner. (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to make oral presentations on technical matters and train users at a variety of levels on the use of relevant software. (Required)
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, students and staff of various social, cultural and educational backgrounds at UCLA, other universities, and companies. (Required)
- Demonstrated capacity to work on teams whose members have different levels of technical ability. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations
- Bachelor's Degree in related area or equivalent experience/training (Required) Or
- Master's Degree (Preferred)
