The role you'll contribute:
Responsible for scanning, quality control, validation, and analysis of medical records. This position ensures the accuracy and completeness of scanned documents. This role performs quality checks to verify the integrity of medical records. In addition, this position validates the information in the records against established standards. Additionally, this role analyzes medical records to identify any discrepancies or errors.
The value you'll bring to the team:
- Monitors and identifies industry trends, documenting feedback to management.
- Prepares charts for the scanning process and ensures scan images appear in record.
- Assigns medical records to the correct document type in validation and assigns deficiencies accurately.
- Assists with day-to-day activities of the health information services department, including birth certificate coverage, tumor registry assistance, and clinical pertinence reviews.
- Shares telephone responsibilities answers calls and assists callers or department visitors promptly.
- Records and communicates messages accurately, with minimal complaints.
- Locates and checks out charts for re-admitted patients promptly and accurately.
- Fulfills physicians' and other healthcare facilities' requests for patient information and charts according to policy.
- Cross-trains in different department functions and assists with coverage as needed.
- Reviews and quality controls charts accurately.
- Provides backup support for various administrative tasks to maintain an efficient and organized department.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The expertise and experience you'll need to succeed :
- High School Grad or Equiv Required
- HIM experience preferred
- Epic knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology necessary.
- Computer skills needed.
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) Preferred
