- Pay: $24.11 - $36.17 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience
Summary
Provides medical interpretation for patients, staff and guests who are non-English speaking, deaf, or hard of hearing, to help communication with healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a conduit between patient and/or guest and healthcare professional for communication in the patient's preferred language.
- Accurately interprets medical terminology, including but not limited to anatomy, prescriptions, and procedures.
- Complies with all privacy and confidentiality policies when communicating patient information.
- May translate written documentation.
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Completion of medical interpretation competency test.
- Effective 6/1/2025, National certification as Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) or Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI) for eligible languages within 2 years of hire or from the effective date, whichever is later.
- 2 years of medical interpretation.
