Lab Processing Specialist - AFB/Mycology

Shift: Flex Schedule NIGHTS

PRN Position

• Scheduled Shifts: 7:00 PM - 3:30 AM
• 4-6 weeks of full-time training on day shift between 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Schedule includes weekends and holidays
• Anticipated need on Friday/Saturday evenings from 7:00 PM - 3:30 AM (February - May 2026)

Pay: $19.67 - $25.57 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Summary:
Performs specimen processing for cultures in the AFB/Mycology section of the Microbiology Laboratory.

Responsibilities:

• Assists with receiving, identifying, accessing, processing and transporting specimens, plus additional responsibilities requiring critical thinking. Handles problems, including documentation and resolution. Communicates test results to appropriate healthcare providers.
• Acts as mentor in specific area of expertise. Maintains equipment and adequate stock of supplies. Maintains work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.
• Performs duties in accordance with regulations and procedures. Contributes to new procedures.
• Performs clerical duties including answering phones, data entry, and filing. Performs charge entry and/or invoice reconciliation as applicable.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

• High School diploma or GED.
• 1 year of relevant experience.
