Brief Summary Of Job Duties
- Collection of plant ecophysiology data in the field and lab (plant water status, plant hydraulic efficiency), 2) Process geospatial data, 3) Assistance with coordination of field work at Santa Barbara County sites, 4) Laboratory measurements of plant hydraulics and morphology, 5) Assist in construction of laboratory equipment, 6) Execute field protocols semi-autonomously, 7) Execute laboratory protocols autonomously, 8) Data entry and QA/QC (maintain organized data, field notes, and record keeping) and 9) Assist PIs with project management, including: a. Work responsibly individually and on a team b. Communicate clearly and frequently with field team lead and project PIs c. Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma
- Bachelor's Degree in Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Science or related natural science
- 1-3 years Experience working with geo-spatial data in ArcGIS or equivalent software
- 1-3 years Experience with R & Rstudio software
- 1-3 years Knowledge of Santa Barbara flora
- Ability to identify native and non-native plants, lead student workers, interns and volunteers, assist with plant propagation at the restoration nursery and greenhouse, conduct preparation, exotic weed control, planting, and other duties related to monitoring and education/outreach.
- Fieldwork experience in environmental sciences or related field.
- Good interpersonal skills for working with a research team.
- Required to hold a valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies and procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.
- Satisfactory criminal history background check

- 30% Field Work - Collect plant ecophysiological measurements and conduct community composition surveys in the field
- 30% Laboratory Analysis - Perform plant physiological measurements in the laboratory and greenhouse
- 20% Data Processing - Collect and collate geospatial data for the extraction of remote sensing data. Basic data analysis
- 10% Logistic Coordination - Data entry and field/laboratory logistical coordination with research team
- 10% Miscellaneous - Various other duties as assigned
