Reporting to the VC-CFO, Information Technology Services (ITS) delivers Enterprise information technology services to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the leadership of the campus Chief Information Officer (CIO). Academic Technology Services (ATS) provides technology services, support, and resources to the UC San Diego academic community, facilitating teaching, learning, and research in service of the University's educational mission.

Would you like to leverage your Cognos or Tableau skills to tap into a cutting-edge next generation analytical platform and help our world-renowned faculty conduct research and improve student success? We’re looking for a talented data systems analyst for an exciting new project as part of our collaborative, multidisciplinary team!
Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
Must be available to travel as required.
Responsibilities:
Develops expertise on the data model and nomenclature used in the Student Activity Hub (SAH) and prepares mappings between the SAH and other data sources: https://blink.ucsd.edu/technology/bi/sources/student-activity-hub
Reviews faculty research datasets and matches them with desired student demographic, performance and other data in the SAH
Applies data anonymization algorithms, and produces combined anonymized datasets
Trains non-business-intelligence staff on the SAH data and the process of matching and producing combined anonymized datasets.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
Strong experience developing reports in Tableau and/or Cognos.
Familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion.
Demonstrated ability to assess multiple databases or data sources and develop best practices for data matching and combining.
Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements. Familiarity with standard approaches to data anonymization, including strengths and weaknesses of techniques.
Ability to prepare data models unassisted. Ability to develop BI reporting independently.
Ability to perform complex SQL queries

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $63,400 - $142,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $30.36 - $68.39
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
