Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and, if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $200,000 - $255,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Position description

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) is committed to academic excellence within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Academic General Pediatrics (AGP) within the Department of Pediatrics is seeking a faculty member to serve as Medical Director of their Special Needs Clinic (AGP SNC).

The AGP SNC is dedicated to providing high-quality, family-centered primary care to children with medical complexity throughout San Diego, Imperial, southern Riverside, and Orange counties. The AGP SNC provides accessible, continuous, comprehensive, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally sensitive care. The clinic works closely with more than 20 pediatric outpatient subspecialties, inpatient hospital services, home care organizations, therapy providers, palliative care programs, pediatric hospice programs, schools, pediatric day programs, and long-term care facilities to ensure coordinated care for patients and families.

The Medical Director will provide clinical and administrative leadership for the Special Needs Clinic, oversee program development and quality improvement initiatives, support faculty and trainee education, and help guide strategic planning and operational growth of the clinic. The selected candidate will also participate in departmental and divisional activities and promote a patient- and family-centered approach to care. In addition, the selected candidate will also contribute to medical education through teaching, mentoring trainees, and leading innovative scholarly and research initiatives.

The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent degree.

Candidates must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.

Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Pediatrics

Preferred qualifications

Candidates with a minimum of five years of clinical experience caring for children with medical complexity and at least two years of leadership experience are preferred.
