Under general supervision, applies professional knowledge and experience to develop, implement, evaluate, and deliver mindfulness-based education, teacher training support, and health and wellbeing coaching programs for campus and community participants. Utilizing evidence-based approaches, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), and health coaching methodologies, the incumbent develops curriculum and instructional materials, facilitates group courses and workshops, provides individual coaching, supports teacher training and certification activities, and evaluates program effectiveness. The incumbent conducts participant needs assessments, recommends program enhancements, collaborates on outreach and course planning efforts, and promotes health and wellbeing programs to diverse populations. Performs related programmatic and administrative duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Seven years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor’s degree in related area plus three years of related experience/training.

• Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field.

• Thorough knowledge of the design and delivery of related programs.

• Skills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and services. Demonstrated experience in independently delivering the health education course, drawing upon formal training.

• Effective interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groups. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

• Effective organizational skills.

• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs.

• Strong skills in teaching therapists and/or other health care professionals and consulting on implementation of health education protocols.

• Demonstrated experience to independently provide lifestyle health coaching sessions for participants in ongoing research study of chronic pain and depression on a variety of areas of need, including but not limited to: nutrition, exercise, sleep, anxious or depressed mood, and social connection, etc.

• Demonstrated experience developing, securing, and maintaining any equipment or instructional materials needed to conduct classes.

• Proven ability to participates in editing and revising draft articles as needed.

• Strong demonstrated ability to evaluate the effectiveness of training techniques (e.g., virtual, in person) on study participants.

• Proven ability to assess effectiveness of counseling content, and revises as needed.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced knowledge of and experience in working independently to offer health education courses to participants in a UCSD research study.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
