What are the responsibilities and job description for the Zumba Instructor position at UC Riverside Recreation Center?
General Statement of Duties:
The Fitness Class Instructor instructs non-credit recreational fitness classes to University of California, Riverside Student Recreation Center participants. The Fitness Class Instructor also assists in developing and instructing fitness-related events.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Create and instruct effective fitness routines for a variety of fitness levels.
- Adapt workouts and exercises to accommodate individual participant needs and abilities.
- Cue and demonstrate proper form and technique during exercise.
- Motivate participants and ensure individuals are performing exercises safely and correctly.
- Maintain a welcoming, positive, and supportive environment for all participants.
- Serve as a role model for members, motivating and encouraging participants toward a healthy lifestyle.
- Deliver exceptional customer service, assisting and responding to participant inquiries and concerns.
- Follow and enforce SRC policies, safety protocols, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitness equipment, workout spaces, and storage areas.
- Report equipment and audio maintenance issues promptly to SRC staff.
- Maintain valid fitness and CPR/AED/First Aid certifications at all times.
- Adhere to ethical and professional codes of conduct established by UCR, the SRC, and your fitness certifying body.
- Attend all mandatory department meetings and trainings, both virtually and in-person.
- Assist in developing and promoting SRC fitness programs, classes, and special events.
- Support campus-wide wellness initiatives by leading fitness activities at events and workshops on campus and at the SRC.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information and uphold privacy regulations.
- Provide substitute coverage for classes when available.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 3 – 10 per week
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
License/Certification:
- Group Exercise Instructor Certification (Required)
