Your Role on the Team Position Summary: Incumbent consults with departments to determine their computing needs related to HAIS services specific to Perioperative and Biomedical Device Integration, including coordination, planning and scheduling of work assignments and training. Coordinates all projects with department heads and project leads. Provides assistance on a variety of computing issues to faculty, staff, and students on an individual and/or group level. Responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures to support services. Participates in the evaluation, development and documentation of hardware and software standards for the Medical Center. Responsible to effectively supervise a group of HAIS unit employees. What It Takes to be Successful Required Qualifications: Working knowledge of wireless network configurations and limitations related to a clinical environment Working knowledge of Thin client and other terminal related technologies Working knowledge of Biomedical Device Integration software Understanding of DNS, DHCP, WINS Thorough understanding of Microsoft Active Directory Strong supervisory skills Strong interpersonal communication skills to effectively interface with internal and/or external customers Prior experience supporting and configuring bio medical device interfacing to documentation systems Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Must be willing to participate in 24 hour on-call rotations as a system duty officer Minimum two years experience with Clinical Informatics and Biomedical Device Integration Knowledge of system architecture and file structures for development, maintenance and enhancement tasks for system maintained Knowledge of operating system internals, file systems, functions of hardware components, and how hardware and software components work together to form a computer system Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols General understanding of scripting languages Extensive knowledge of PC hardware & software requirements. Extensive experience with Windows XP/Vista/7 Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Demonstrated experience working as a project manager / lead Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends Ability to supervise staff and vendors Ability to self initiate and effectively problem solve issues Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Ability to apply logical troubleshooting and analysis techniques for the purpose of problem resolution Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of Health System infrastructure Programming experience in Visual Basic Prior experience supporting end users in the Perioperative / Anesthesia / Clinical environments MCSE Certification Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms Demonstrated supervisory experience in an IS department Total Rewards We offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding.
