Job Summary
The Director of Revenue Cycle Optimization is responsible for leading the design, development, deployment and ongoing optimization of the Epic Systems (Epic) software platform in support of all Revenue Cycle functions (registration, eligibility/authorization, coding, billing, AR/collections, denial management, patient financial services). This role partners with operations, IT, finance, clinical areas and vendors to ensure optimized workflows, system configuration, high user adoption, and improved financial performance and operational efficiency. The Director of Revenue Cycle Optimization collaborates with leaders on process improvement efforts. Responsible for achieving accountability and stewardship of university resources in a manner consistent with system wide objectives and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Information Systems or related technical domain required or a combination of experience, education or training.
- Several years of similar experience in a leadership role over large business units required.
- 5 years of progressive experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, with at least 5 years leading Epic optimization or major EHR/RCM system transformation efforts.
- Experience working in an IT/clinical/operational matrix environment
- Ability to manage large and complex deployments, HIM operations, revenue integrity standards, data management, analytics and monitoring.
- Strong deep understanding of revenue cycle workflows (registration, eligibility, coding, billing, collections/AR, denials) and how they integrate within Epic.
- Demonstrated track record of implementing workflow redesign, automation and system improvements that had measurable operational or financial impact.
- Excellent leadership, collaboration, communication (written & verbal), and stakeholder management skills. Must be able to influence at all levels, from front-line staff to executive leadership.
- Extensive knowledge of business, management principles and budget control.
- Strong deep understanding of revenue cycle workflows (registration, eligibility, coding, billing, collections/AR, denials) and how they integrate within Epic.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data, dashboards and KPIs.
- Skilled in an IT/clinical/operational matrix environment; ability to translate business needs into system configuration and process changes
- Ability to interpret statistical data and compile reports for management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of management, staff, faculty and outside entities.
- Strong leadership and management skills to provide planning, coordination and direction to division staff.
- Ability to develop and implement new proposals and programs. Ability to streamline processes in order to more effectively and efficiently oversee clinical documentation/legal record and revenue integrity activities in the Health System.
- Ability to be highly organized and delegate assignments to staff effectively.
- Knowledge of priority setting strategies, strong problem-solving abilities and an adeptness at initiating actions for effective conflict resolution.
- Ability to exercise exemplary tact and diplomacy when dealing with high level internal and external executives, faculty and outside entities.
- Proven ability to transition between projects and multi-task while managing multiple short term and long-range projects.
- Excellent presentation skills and prior experience in creating and presenting complex information to diverse audiences including clinicians, executives and executive staff.
- Must be able to manage both confidential and routine matters with discretion.
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data, dashboards and KPIs.
- Epic certifications in relevant modules (e.g., Resolute Professional Billing, Hospital Billing, Claims, Contract Management) strongly preferred
- Master’s degree in a technical field of study highly preferred.
