Title: Graduate Student Peer Financial Wellness Coach
Pay rate: Student Assistant IV (10 hrs/wk); $36.84/hr

Hiring Unit: Center for Financial Wellness, in partnership with Graduate Student Life, Graduate Division
The UC Berkeley Center for Financial Wellness are hiring a Graduate Student Assistant to support financial wellness initiatives for graduate students. This position will help promote financial wellness resources, programs, and events to the graduate student community through outreach, communications, and collaborative partnerships. The assistant will also support the implementation of graduate student financial wellness initiatives, assist with administrative and programmatic tasks, and contribute to ongoing efforts to expand access to financial education and resources.
In addition, this position will participate as a member of the Center for Financial Wellness Peer Financial Wellness Coach team and provide one-on-one coaching for graduate students. Coaching appointments will assist students with budgeting, financial goal setting, managing debt, credit, student loans, and other personal finance topics. The Graduate Student Assistant will also collaborate with campus partners to help increase awareness of available financial wellness services and resources for graduate students.
Responsibilities:
- Graduate Financial Wellness Program Support: Assist the Financial Wellness Manager with planning, implementing, and assessing financial wellness initiatives that serve graduate and professional students.
- Communications and Outreach: Promote financial wellness resources, workshops, and services through GradNews articles, social media, email communications, and collaborations with campus partners. Assist in developing outreach strategies to increase graduate student awareness and engagement.
- Workshop and Event Support: Coordinate and facilitate financial wellness workshops, presentations, outreach events, and other programming for graduate and professional students.
- Financial Wellness Coaching: Conduct one-on-one financial wellness coaching appointments to help graduate students with budgeting, financial goal setting, student loan repayment, credit, debt management, and other personal finance topics.
- Administrative and Program Support: Assist with program administration, including scheduling, tracking program metrics, preparing materials, managing event logistics, maintaining resources, and supporting special projects related to graduate financial wellness initiatives.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills, motivation and dedication
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds in an advising capacity
- Demonstrated ability to work well as part of a team or independently, as needed
- Professional or personal experience and background related to personal finances or taxes
Preferred Qualifications include one or more of the following:
- Experience or familiarity with filing taxes as a graduate student
- Experience with graphic design and marketing
- Familiarity with campus resources and systems
